Winking Studios, a prominent Asian triple-A outsourcing company, has recently acquired Mineloader, a renowned company based in China. This significant transaction is valued at £16.3 million, which translates to approximately $19.87 million. The financial arrangement consists of an upfront payment of $14.7 million, with the remaining amount set to be paid over the next five years, contingent on Mineloader meeting certain performance targets.
Founded in 2003, Mineloader specializes in art outsourcing for the gaming industry. Johnny Jan, the CEO and founder of Winking Studios, expressed his excitement about the acquisition, stating, “This is our largest acquisition so far and marks a crucial advancement that strengthens our stance in the global video games industry. It opens up new possibilities for growth and innovation.”
Jan emphasized the importance of game art in the development process of video games, highlighting its role as the visual and creative cornerstone that captivates players and defines their gaming experience. He added, “Mineloader brings with it an admirable track record and a focus on game art production. Their team of over 460 employees will complement our current workforce of more than 800, enhancing our capabilities in this sector and attracting new clients. Moreover, Mineloader’s established foothold in the Japanese market adds significant value to our business network.”
The acquisition signifies a leap forward for Winking Studios, allowing them to expand their influence and bolster their offerings in the competitive gaming industry.
