Ayaneo, the well-regarded manufacturer of handheld consoles, has just taken the wraps off its latest top-tier model, the Ayaneo 3. This new device is a successor to the earlier Ayaneo 2, maintaining familiar design elements like its shape and button configuration, but elevating the game with several key hardware enhancements.
In a recent post on the Ayaneo blog, the company revealed that users can choose between two processor options for the Ayaneo 3: the AMD Ryzen 7 8840U or the more robust AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. Along with this, the console boasts a luxurious seven-inch display available in either high-refresh-rate LCD or OLED HDR variants, ensuring players enjoy an immersive gaming experience. On top of that, Ayaneo has added a pair of new buttons on the back, giving users even more versatility when it comes to control options.
However, detailed specifications about RAM, storage, or pricing haven’t been disclosed yet for the Ayaneo 3. If we look at the Ayaneo 2, it was available with 16GB or 32GB of RAM paired with storage options ranging from 512GB to 2TB. This model started at $1,099, climbing up to $1,549 for a limited edition. By that comparison, we might see similar configurations and perhaps a slight bump in the price for the Ayaneo 3.
This newest addition to the Ayaneo family is among the first handheld consoles featuring the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 chip. Although it’s true that many current games haven’t tapped into the NPU in the HX 370 processor, the device’s four additional cores, Zen 5 architecture, and the included AMD Radeon 890M graphics unit provide significant power. This tech edge arguably puts it ahead of some leading PC gaming handhelds that largely depend on the Ryzen Z1 Extreme.
The release of the Ayaneo 3 comes as the handheld console market is bustling with fierce competition. The ROG Ally 2, MSI Claw 8 AI+, and Lenovo Legion Go Gen Two are all slated to hit the shelves from late this year into early 2025. As fans of handheld gaming eagerly await, it remains to be seen how Ayaneo 3 will stand out in this crowded space and what gaming experience it will ultimately bring to the table.
