This week on the Nintendo Switch eShop, there’s quite a lineup that’s sure to catch players’ eyes. Not only are we seeing a few classic SNES games making a comeback, but there are also some fresh beats landing on Nintendo’s music app, enticing sales to consider, and, of course, an array of new games ready for download.
Starting with the ever-growing Switch Online library, we’re getting four new classic titles, all from the minds at Koei during the SNES’s prime. First up, we have Nobunaga’s Ambition and its sequel, Nobunaga’s Ambition: Lord of Darkness, which initially released in the early ’90s. These games immerse you in the chaotic Sengoku period of Japan, tasking you with the challenge of uniting the fragmented regions through strategic battles.
Continuing to expand your geographical expertise, Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV Wall of Fire takes you to China, weaving its story around the historical Three Kingdoms period. This 1994 strategy game is all about commanding your forces and outmaneuvering opponents to bring peace to a land steeped in conflict.
Making a nautical shift, Uncharted Waters: New Horizons sets sail from the European coasts, offering a rich sailing and trading experience that first debuted in 1993. It’s an adventurous dive into exploration and trade during the Age of Discovery.
On another musical note, this week sees the Nintendo Music app expanding too, though somewhat unusually. They’ve added a partial soundtrack—23 tracks from Kirby and the Forgotten Land. Seems a bit piecemeal, doesn’t it? Here’s hoping the rest of the soundtrack makes its way to the app soon.
Moving on to new releases, there’s quite a list hitting the Switch eShop, including Which Way Up: Galaxy Games. We had the chance to chat with Turtle Flip Studio, the brains behind this title, during last week’s Pure Nintendo Podcast. Make sure to tune in for our full review coming soon.
So, that sums up this busy week on the eShop. Which games have caught your eye this time around? We’d love to hear what you’ve got queued up for a play this week!
