Pantaloon, an indie games newsletter that’s been a favorite among developers, has taken a leap into the publishing world by launching its own label. This exciting venture kicks off with two intriguing titles: the narrative-driven Sub-Verge and the unique Solitaire project, Occlude. Once solely a resource hub with nearly 30,000 subscribers, Pantaloon is now expanding its horizons, aiming to make its mark in the indie publishing scene.
“We’re aware that the industry isn’t exactly short of indie publishers,” admits Jamin Smith, the founder. “However, we’re steering our ship with a fresh set of guiding principles. Our plan involves leveraging our established platform and offering terms that genuinely respect and empower our development partners. We’re on a mission to embrace risk head-on, seeking out quirky or experimental games that venture into uncharted or tumultuous genre territories.”
He adds, “When we say we’re a ‘home for misfits,’ it’s not just a catchy slogan. It’s a rallying cry, inviting games that don’t conform to conventional publishing molds to find a sanctuary with us.”
A quick note: Alex Calvin has collaborated with Pantaloon before in his capacity as a freelance writer and photographer.
