Intel XeSS technology is really making waves in the gaming world, with support now reaching over 150 games, and there’s still more to look forward to. XeSS 2 is also starting to make its presence felt.
Intel was ahead of the curve, being the first discrete GPU maker to debut a super-sampling technique with the Intel Arc Alchemist series. It’s been more than two years since XeSS came out, and it’s evolved considerably, leading us to the current iteration, XeSS 2.
While XeSS 2 hasn’t become mainstream yet, the original version, XeSS 1.0, and its updates have been integrated into a wide array of games. Today, Intel proudly announced that XeSS technology now supports over 150 titles, with even more on the horizon.
A comprehensive list of games utilizing XeSS is available and includes many popular modern AAA titles. However, XeSS still faces stiff competition from AMD’s FSR and NVIDIA’s DLSS.
As shared by Intel Gaming on Twitter: “We’ve hit the mark on 150+ games with #XeSS support, with more on the way! Experience peak gaming for yourself with Intel XeSS AI upscaling today.”
Though Intel is gaining some ground, there’s still much work to be done to catch up with the competition. Most supported games lean on XeSS 1 and its updates, with limited titles adopting XeSS 2. Currently, only F1 2024 and Marvel Rivals feature XeSS 2, but we can anticipate its arrival in upcoming games and updates to existing ones. Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Killing Floor 3 are among those expected to incorporate XeSS 2 soon.
Additionally, some games take advantage of Intel’s XeSS Frame Generation, albeit it’s not as widespread as FSR or DLSS Frame Gen technologies. It’s essential to note that XeSS 2 and Frame Generation are only compatible with Intel Arc Battlemage GPUs. Presently, this line includes just two models, Arc B580 and Arc B570, and they’re not particularly easy to find.
