CD Projekt RED has recently unleashed the latest update for Cyberpunk 2077, labeled as 2.21, targeting all current-generation platforms with a slew of important fixes and enhancements. A particular focus of this patch is eliminating a frustrating glitch within the "Run This Town" quest, which previously made deactivating the Aguilar imprint an impossible task.
Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.21 Patch Notes (January 23, 2025)
Below, you’ll find a comprehensive breakdown of what this patch entails:
Photo Mode Enhancements
Now, both Nibbles and Adam Smasher can be summoned even when V is airborne or submerged, adding more flexibility to your creative endeavors. The Facial Expression option for Adam Smasher has been fixed, along with addressing the missing glowing chest cyberware issue. Moreover, activating Johnny’s Alternate Appearance will now show the correct visuals for both appearance options. Spawning characters while V is airborne or underwater no longer results in them abruptly snapping to the ground.
There’s now better preset saving for characters, who will stay visible when backgrounds are added, and V’s orientation and location will correctly record in presets. Adjustments to V’s up and down movements now apply accurately across all values.
Gone are the days when NPCs, who vanish after you disable Surrounding NPCs, obstructed your path. Issues causing extra light sources in presets, improper camera positions when backgrounds are active, and unresponsive camera movements have all been rectified. Additionally, the camera prompts won’t appear when inappropriate—for instance, while using the First-Person Perspective—and toggling Chromatic Aberration no longer hinders your adjustments.
Furthermore, disappearing scene items and frozen NCPD vehicles will stay unaffected by any configuration changes. The rule of thirds will also align with the selected aspect ratio. If you open a SmartFrame while facing away, the image will now display correctly, and the game will no longer freeze if Photo Mode is accessed simultaneously with Wardrobe or Stash options.
Several other minor tweaks were made to improve spawning characters and camera controls, ensuring a smooth user experience.
Vehicle Color Customization Adjustments
This update resolves various textural and color inconsistencies on vehicles with CrystalCoat. It also reinstates missing information in the Autofixer tutorial following a vehicle contract and polishes minor UI glitches within the CrystalCoat and TwinTone menus.
Character Creation Fixes
The stability and function of the Character Creation menu have been reinforced, ensuring that randomizer settings carry over when advancing to editing Attributes. Additionally, the Piercing Color option will appear correctly if piercings are newly added. Minor bugs, such as appearance application errors, visual clipping, and inconsistent UI behavior, have also been tackled.
General Improvements
In the “Run This Town” quest, the obstacle regarding the Aguilar imprint has been dealt with. Johnny Silverhand will now fit seamlessly into scenes during quests, correcting his sometimes duplicated presence. NPC and vehicle interactions throughout Night City have been finetuned, and vendors are fully accessible again. TV news channels gain back their vocal tracks, which were sometimes absent or too silent, and the Quadra Turbo-R V-Tech has its rightful description reinstated. Moreover, expect to see a “check what’s new” message returning in the main menu after updating.
Console-Specific Adjustments
On Xbox, screenshots will no longer appear blank when using HDR10, and a new notification warns players if screenshots cannot be accessed due to privacy settings. Screenshots deleted outside the Gallery UI on Xbox will be appropriately flagged and removed from the Gallery. For Xbox Series S players, Graphics Mode settings now recognize the default setting as Performance, correcting the previous default to Quality.
PC-Specific Enhancements
With the introduction of DLSS 4, gamers utilizing GeForce RTX 50 Series graphics cards are in for a treat. This technology exponentially increases FPS by employing AI to craft three times the frames typically rendered. This feature will be available for RTX 50 Series cards starting January 30th. Additionally, DLSS 4 brings about rapid single Frame Generation with decreased memory strain for both RTX 50 and 40 Series GPUs. Choose between the CNN model or the novel Transformer model for better DLSS Ray Reconstruction and DLSS Super Resolution applications—transformations promised to stabilize imagery and enrich lighting in motion.
In-game screen artifacts during DLSS Ray Reconstruction are now resolved, and the Frame Generation setting in Graphics will revert correctly if Resolution Scaling is turned off.
This comprehensive update aims to enrich your Cyberpunk 2077 experience significantly by smoothing out these wrinkles and bolstring stability across platforms.
