Elden Ring’s fan-favorite mod, the seamless co-op feature crafted by the talented modder Yui, has garnered significant attention. Now, Yui is bringing that magic to Dark Souls 3.
FromSoftware, known for their challenging games, has a unique approach to online multiplayer, aiming to slightly ease the difficulty. After all, battling through the game is more amusing when you can do it with another silent protagonist alongside you, both dodge rolling to triumph. However, teaming up with friends often turns into a bit of a hassle. That’s where Yui steps in, renowned for the seamless co-op mod for Elden Ring and a similar enhancement for Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon. Yui has now announced they’re developing a seamless co-op mod for Dark Souls 3.
In a video showcased on YouTube, Yui demonstrates the mod in action alongside a friend as they venture through Lothric Castle. (If Dark Souls 3 is still on your to-do list, watch out for spoilers!) The video’s description gives a rundown: this mod wipes out all multiplayer restrictions, keeping connections alive even after death. It allows you and your friends to journey together from the tutorial to the game’s finale with synchronized progress, eliminating the need for resummoning or dealing with interruptions. Invasions are optional, enabled by default, and you can tweak enemy scaling as you see fit. Sounds ideal for anyone wanting a seamless multiplayer experience!
As for when this mod will be available, there’s no release date just yet, so patience will be required. But if you’re itching for some co-op gameplay, you’ll be pleased to know that the new Elden Ring, Nightreign, is set to release this year. It comes with built-in seamless co-op, although its focus is as a boss-centered roguelite which might shape its replayability.
