The latest patch for Croc: Legend of the Gobbos has dropped on April 17, offering a host of bug fixes and enhancements aimed at improving the overall player experience. This new update addresses platform-specific issues like collision glitches, control adjustments for the Nintendo Switch, graphics, achievement bugs, and even frame rate concerns. The team at Argonaut Games is also actively looking into the frame rate problems reported on the ASUS ROG Ally handheld device.
Argonaut Games is thrilled to announce the release of their recent update for the remastered version of Croc: Legend of the Gobbos. Currently available for the PC, it will soon grace PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch consoles. Despite its initial launch lacking a Platinum trophy on PS4 and PS5, this remastered 3D platformer introduced several exciting features such as a redesigned control screen, enhanced HD graphics, and an in-depth Crocipedia—a digital museum bursting with rare development artifacts, like design blueprints, concept sketches, animation prototypes, and interviews with the creators. Since its debut on April 2, the development team has gathered valuable feedback from players, paving the way for this inaugural update.
Version 1.0.4 of Croc: Legend of the Gobbos is now live on GOG. The comprehensive patch notes, released on April 17, highlight the rectification of collision issues with pesky elements like spiky balls, the stabilization of previously erratic movements and positions, as well as the restoration of missing particle effects. The update also fine-tunes the puzzle pieces on the island level select screen, ensuring they accurately reflect which pieces have been collected. Furthermore, the game’s music track selections now align with the beloved 1997 PlayStation version, and inaccuracies in track length on the Crocipedia screen have been resolved.
In addition to these adjustments, a noteworthy fix tackles a rendering discrepancy with save data that previously impacted performance on PCs. This occurred due to new saves defaulting to a custom rendering preset. The patch also rectifies a bug causing occasional crashes during FMVs on PC.
For console players, the update brings crucial platform-specific improvements. The Nintendo Switch, in particular, received a lot of user feedback due to its not-so-intuitive control mapping. As a result, key button functions like Jump, 180-degree Flip, and Attack have been repositioned to mirror the classic game layout, consistent with other platforms. The PlayStation and Xbox versions have seen improvements in trophy and achievement stability, though the development team continues to investigate the frame rate issues plaguing the ASUS ROG Ally handheld.
