Acer has just rolled out an exciting new series in the Radeon RX 9070 graphics card family, expanding their lineup with six fresh models that include both base and overclocked (OC) versions. These cards boast impressive boost clock speeds that reach up to 3.1 GHz.
Acer, an established partner of AMD, is stepping up its game with the introduction of two distinct styles within the RDNA 4 GPU category: the BiFrost and Nitro editions. While Acer might not be as prolific as other main AMD partners, this launch demonstrates their commitment to delivering quality. They’ve introduced six models in total, with three variations for each style.
In this lineup, you’ll find two Nitro editions designed for the Radeon RX 9070 XT and Radeon RX 9070, along with a BiFrost edition for the same GPUs. BiFrost cards are known for their eye-catching design and top-tier cooling solutions, whereas Nitro versions cater to everyday gamers, offering solid performance without breaking the bank.
Starting off with the BiFrost series, the Acer BiFrost Radeon RX 9070 XT OC 16 GB is a standout with its triple-fan cooling system, complete with a sleek shroud and eye-catching silver accents around the middle fan. The upgraded cooling features FrostBlade 4.0 ringed fans and a counter-spin design, enhancing heat dissipation efficiently. With a length of around 295 mm and a thickness of 2.5 slots, this model is tailored for gamers seeking serious performance, thanks to its factory overclocked speeds hitting 3.1 GHz.
The Acer BiFrost Radeon RX 9070 OC 16 GB shares a similar design but has a couple of differences. It uses two 8-pin power connectors compared to the three found on the XT model. Interestingly, both models have a power rating of 340W, even though the RX 9070 usually consumes less power. Through two 8-pin connectors and a PCI-E x16 slot, it provides sufficient power at 340W without the same overclocking potential as the BiFrost RX 9070 XT OC.
Then we have the Acer Nitro line, which includes options for both overclocked and standard models within the RX 9070 series. Take the Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 XT OC, for example—it’s a triple-fan GPU with up to 3.1 GHz of boost clock, sharing its dimensions with the BiFrost variant. Also powered by three 8-pin connectors with a 340W TDP, this model offers serious performance. Meanwhile, the non-OC Nitro RX 9070 XT, boasting a 304W rating, retains the triple 8-pin configuration but hits a 2970 MHz boost and a 2.4 GHz game mode frequency.
The remaining two options in Acer’s lineup include the Nitro Radeon RX 9070 OC and the standard RX 9070 16 GB editions, clocking in at up to 2.7 GHz and 2.52 GHz, respectively. The OC version stands at 245W, while the non-OC version comes in at 220W, although both maintain the same design profile.
Pricing for all these new models hasn’t been fully announced yet, but prepare yourself for a high sticker price on some. For instance, the Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 XT OC 16 GB demands $829.99, and the BiFrost edition is expected to be even higher. While release dates are still under wraps, the Nitro RX 9070 XT OC should start hitting shelves in the US by April.
