The ambitious team behind Skyblivion, the colossal mod project that’s reconstructing The Elder Scrolls IV using Skyrim’s engine, has hit a major milestone. They’ve successfully completed the landscaping of every region within their Cyrodiil map, which is a significant step forward. While there’s still a lot on their plate to meet the projected 2025 release timeframe, this achievement certainly marks substantial progress.
In a recent tweet, the team shared that with the Niben Basin and Valley now wrapped up, every part of Cyrodiil’s landscape has undergone at least an initial transformation. The next phase involves revisiting these areas to refine and enhance them to meet higher standards.
Last month, an update video from the Skyblivion modders highlighted their efforts in finalizing the world map. At that time, the Nibenay region along Cyrodiil’s eastern border was the only area left to complete—another task now ticked off their list.
However, the journey is far from over. The team anticipates more technical tasks, like finalizing navmeshing, which ensures smooth NPC navigation—a crucial detail to prevent characters from aimlessly bumping into obstacles rather than traversing the landscape fluidly.
Besides the outdoor elements, the team disclosed that they’re working diligently on interior spaces. They’re focusing on essential quest-centric locations which demand more planning and creativity compared to standard interiors. As of last month, six quests were still waiting for development to begin.
If this incredible work has piqued your interest and you possess skills that could contribute, Skyblivion’s team is actively seeking new volunteers to join their ranks. Curious souls can find out more about how to get involved.
