There’s been a slew of efforts to bring elements from one Fallout game into another. But now, an ambitious fan is setting their sights on reimagining what many consider the pinnacle of the series—Fallout: New Vegas—by recreating it inside The Sims 2. Introducing The Sims 2: New Vegas, a fan-made “remaster” that’s a prime example of the creative magic that unfolds when Fallout enthusiasts channel their creativity into new projects.
A dedicated subreddit has sprung up, noticed by TheGamer, documenting this ongoing endeavor. At the helm is Baron Pulitzer, famously known online as FalloutPropMaster. When they’re not indulging in game mods, they run an independent film production company. Baron has been sharing updates for about a week now.
In their introduction post, Baron confessed to growing weary of waiting for an official remaster of Fallout: New Vegas. They dream of revisiting content that was trimmed from the game during its beta stage. It was an upload by user ‘lilipad’ on ModTheSims, showcasing a couple of casinos on the New Vegas Strip for The Sims 2, that sparked Baron’s decision to rebuild New Vegas within The Sims 2. Though experienced in modding Fallout 3 and New Vegas, they are new to The Sims modding, which presented a fresh learning curve.
Over the past week, Baron has been busy reacquainting themselves with old software like Milkshape, FOMM, Blender, and Nifscope. Not only has it been a nostalgic journey, but it’s also provided a new, exciting outlet for their free time.
Their work so far includes laying out the Mojave Wasteland neighborhood, complete with iconic locations like The Strip and Freeside. They’ve also recreated Goodsprings’ Prospector Saloon, a fitting starting point for this ambitious project.
Baron has been crafting some beloved characters as well. Notably, scenes featuring Vulpes Inculta in his signature Legion wolf hat are shared. He’s pictured lounging with a few ghouls and enjoying a game of kickball. There’s also a household filled with companions, no doubt swapping tales of their adventures with a certain postman who tends to flee dangerous situations while frantically using stimpaks.
Excitingly, the updated visuals include a revamped TS2 user interface with a classic Fallout aesthetic—a nice touch for fans of the series.
This project is definitely one to watch, especially if you’re a Sims 2 enthusiast relishing the Legacy Collection remaster. And if you happen to be hankering for a fresh journey through the Mojave as a cannibal aiming to eat Mr. House, only to wind up with enemies at every turn while attempting to conquer Caesars’ cronies, going rogue in Vegas might just be what you need.
