Veteran in the industry, Dino Patti, has made an intriguing move by reclaiming ownership of Jumpship from Thunderful.
According to a report by GI.biz, Patti, known for his work with Playdead, is planning to rejuvenate the studio and steer it in a “new direction.” Patti, alongside Chris Olsen, initially co-founded Jumpship back in 2017, and they went on to release their first game, Somerville, in 2022.
However, that very year saw the studio being snapped up by the European gaming company, Thunderful. In addition to this, Patti has also invested in Sad Owl Studios, the team behind Viewfinder.
As of now, the financial details of these deals remain undisclosed.
“I can’t lift the veil just yet, but I truly believe the current investment and publishing landscape has grown stale,” Patti expressed.
He went on to emphasize, “It needs a complete overhaul to better serve talented game developers and, most importantly, the players.”
Explaining his vision for Jumpship, Patti said, “Jumpship has always been about pushing the boundaries of emotions, storytelling, and innovation in gaming. I want to take the company in a completely new direction while staying true to that vision.”
He added, “This is more than just a business decision; it’s about reigniting the passion and vision that first sparked Jumpship—while taking it further than ever before.”
