In the world of Synth Beasts, you step into the shoes of a Synth, a botched creation that makes a daring escape from its maker’s laboratory nestled on a mysterious island. As you venture through a string of islands known as the archipelago, you’ll come across other Synths that aren’t exactly thrilled to see you. Your only option is to challenge them, and with each battle won, you unlock these characters, accessing their unique skills for both fighting and exploring.
When you engage your Synths in combat, they earn experience points, leveling up as they go. Each has five distinct levels, each bringing its own perks. As you progress, it becomes tougher to gain experience, so it’s wise to rotate your team regularly to keep unlocking abilities and maintain a strong party.
Take “Psitek,” for instance. This Synth can ignite torches immediately upon onboarding. At level three, it develops a fire slash that can deflect enemy projectiles, which proves incredibly useful in certain dungeons. However, after a while, its upgrades focus mainly on combat enhancements, so rotating to a different Synth can help you snag new abilities without spending excessive experience points.
Early in the adventure, you’ll be lucky enough to acquire a boat once belonging to the scientists. With this vessel, the Genesis Archipelago is yours to discover. Each small island hides treasures such as extra life, stat enhancements, and spending currency. If detailed exploration isn’t your thing, feel free to head straight to the main islands and take on the scientists directly to dismantle their dubious schemes.
You’ll find that while the main islands host boss-level Synths, many optional islands do too. Snatching each of the 40-plus Synths is no simple task, but hidden throughout the Genesis Archipelago are numerous rewards awaiting those who dare to find them.
